Duties

Repair heavy equipment, cranes and related components including, but not limited to: hydraulic backhoes, rubber tire loaders, 580 to 65 ton excavators, large trucks such as dump trucks and Low Boy Tractor/Trailer and small trucks, such as pick-ups and vansLubricate equipment and make minor repairs using grease gun and hand tools. Must own and supply your own Mechanic Tool Box with all tools required to perform required duties. Tune-up motors, repair and install brakes, remove and replace broken engine parts, remove and replace entire engines and repair small engine. Repair and perform annual inspection on trailers. Perform annual inspection on assigned vehicles. Maintain a clean work area. Accurately measure and cut marked material. Lift materials and assist where needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Intermediate knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems. Intermediate knowledge of pumps and hydraulic rams, metal tracks and under carriage of all track machines. Knowledge of safety procedures when working on or around any and all equipment. Ability to be flexible in the work environment and willing to adapt to changing construction site needs. Ability to identify materials. Ability to identify and use tape measure, basic hand tools, as well as power tools. Ability to take direction, to listen and to understand assigned tasks. Ability to perform tasks independently, as assigned, without re-work. Ability to work cooperatively as a team. Ability to hold oneself accountable for actions, successes and failures. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations; ability to independently identify and avoid safety hazards. Current driver’s license and reliable means of transportation. High school diploma or GED. Must have completed, or are working towards completing Apprenticeship or post-secondary education in Diesel or Automobile Mechanics. 2 years on the job training as a Mechanic or relevant coursework is preferred. 

Preferred Skills and Abilities:  Class A Commercial driver’s license (or ability to obtain).

Erect and work from scaffolding/ladder/platform. Prep site for appropriate work tasks. Operate large equipment (if relevant). Regular and accurate use of the following tools: hand tools, power tools, and lasers. Load and transport material. Maintain clean job site. Accurately measure and cut marked material.
Lift materials and assist where needed.

Qualifications

Ability to identify materials. Ability to identify and use tape measure, basic hand tools, as well as power tools. Ability to take direction, to listen and to understand assigned tasks. Ability to perform tasks independently, as assigned, without re-work. Ability to work cooperatively as a team. Ability to hold oneself accountable for actions, successes and failures. Current driver’s license and reliable means of transportation. Three years in construction-related field or equivalent coursework/education.

Perform quantity takeoffs and estimates for earthwork, utilities and other related scope items as assigned. Solicit quotes from material suppliers and subcontractors. Attend pre-bid meetings, progress meetings and other site visits as required. Prepare, negotiate and execute subcontracts, purchase orders, RFI’s and Change Orders. Maintain RFI and Change Order log to ensure issue resolution. Generate any required changes in scope of work, contract amounts, or schedule and communicates to Owner, Architect, and effected Subcontractors. Expert knowledge of contract related performance requirements. Coordinate subcontractor activities. Track material, production, and project costs. Ensure highest levels of quality workmanship and implement quality controls if needed. Communicate with Subcontractors, Suppliers, Owner, A/E, Local officials and other project team members. Develop and maintain project schedule. Promote safety and assist in implementation of all Safety related policies and procedures. Perform staking/layout with Total Station and establish control points for various projects. Review shop drawings/submittals and perform closeout activities in a timely manner. Ability to multitask, perform several projects at one time and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate and collaborate while demonstrating high levels of collaboration and communication. Other tasks as assigned by COO.

Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. 3+ years of P.E. or Civil Project Management experience is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and project management software.
