The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is an entry-level construction management professional who supports Project Managers in all phases of a project, from planning and procurement through execution and closeout.

If you have 1–2 years of experience in the construction field and are ready to take the next step, the Assistant Project Manager role offers hands‑on exposure to all phases of a project while working closely with experienced leaders. This position is ideal for someone eager to build skills, gain responsibility, and grow into managing projects of their own.

day in the life:

  • Participate in project startup meetings and assist with initial documentation and setup.
  • Upload and organize project documents in Procore and shared drives.
  • Prepare submittal workflows and maintain submittal logs.
  • Assist with subcontract preparation and budget upload.
  • Collaborate with PMs and field teams to review and collect short interval planning data.
  • Prepare and distribute 2–3-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Attend and document jobsite, OAC, and other project-related meetings.
  • Monitor productivity and support project progress tracking.
  • Assist with take-offs, estimates, RFIs, POs, subcontracts, and contract deliverables.
  • Coordinate targeted business enterprise outreach (SBE/MBE/DBE) for bidding when needed.
  • Support Procore documentation, permit tracking, private utility locates, and Diggers Hotline.

qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction or project coordination/management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Procore, E-Builder, and/or Sage is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn and grow in the construction industry.
