5454 Lake Mendota Drive
This property on Lake Mendota received a brand-new boathouse through the engineering initiatives of Daniels teams. A 3-part filtration tank was used to pump water out of the shoreline, blocking sediments and runoff before it was able to pollute the lake. This allowed crews to safely drive metal sheeting into the lakebed and install fill forms, setting them up to pour concrete for the updated boathouse structure. A stone retaining wall was additionally added to reinforce the new concrete patio and prevent erosion along the bank.
Mendota Residence
Daniels crews stepped up to restore extreme shoreline erosion along the banks of Lake Mendota after lawn maintenance sprinklers were left on, and the area received six inches of rain. Coconut logs were used to stabilize the bank system, along with a curved retaining wall that was custom formed with a liner. Crews hand-painted the concrete to match the natural existing stone structures, and a full patio and storage space was built-out with paired stairs and a cable rail system. This project was a design-build that highlights Daniels’ ability to respond quickly due to our self-performing capabilities.
Erosion Mitigation
Daniels crews removed and replaced the riprap among various shoreline properties, armoring banks against water and ice erosion. Geotextile filter fabrics were installed to mitigate erosion, allowing water to pass through the filter, while blocking rock and sediment from crumbling off banks.
