Are you a hands-on, experienced diesel mechanic who enjoys keeping equipment running smoothly?  We are looking for a Senior Diesel/Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team and oversee and maintain a wide range of diesel engines, heavy equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation.

As an Equipment Technician, you will be an essential part of the team, supporting daily operations of the mechanic shop and serves as a technical expert on equipment used.  You will have a hands-on role and lead by example while working directly with your team.

day in the life:

  • Inspect engines, transmissions, and related systems and run diagnostics tests to identify issues
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them promptly
  • Ensure all critical parts are inspected, tested, and operating properly
  • Perform repairs with a focus on maximum equipment reliability
  • Complete routine and preventative maintenance on vehicles, machinery, equipment
  • Apply lubricants, replenish fluids, and replace components as needed
  • Build and assemble engines or mechanical components according to specifications
  • Repair heavy equipment, cranes, and related components, including but not limited to: Hydraulic excavators, rubber‑tire loaders, 580 to large excavators, large trucks (dump trucks, low‑boy tractor/trailers), small trucks (pickups and vans)
  • Travel to jobsites as needed for repairs or troubleshooting
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Understand pumps, hydraulic rams, metal tracks, and undercarriages of tracked machines
  • Follow proper safety procedures when working on or around equipment
  • Provide guidance on preventative maintenance best practices
  • Ability to identify materials, tools, and equipment
  • Proficient with tape measures, basic hand tools, and power tools
  • Able to follow directions, understand assigned tasks, and complete work independently with minimal rework
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing jobsite needs
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • Hold oneself accountable for actions, outcomes, and performance
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED, required
  • Completed Apprenticeship or post-secondary education in Diesel and/or Automobile Mechanics
  • 5+ Years of job training as a Mechanic or relevant course work
  • Current Driver’s License, required
  • Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License, preferred
