Madison Water Utility

The reconstruction of the Madison Water Utility Operations Center marks the largest project completed by the Daniels Construction as the Company’s self-performed 27% of the project, putting forth nearly twenty –thousand man hours on the job.  The renovation of the 1920’s era facility was transformed from a building that was overcrowded and inefficient into a facility that features equipment bays, office areas, conference rooms that operate efficiently 24 hours a day and is the utilities’ dispatch and emergency repair center. This project required constant communication and coordination between the Owner, design team and contractors due to varying site conditions, highlighted by the discovery of additional petroleum contaminated soils, which required certified removal. Other features of note is the installation of a StormTrap DoubleTrap Storm Water Detention System that holds approximately 235,000 liquid gallons underground in pre-cast modular units. In further efforts to control stormwater runoff, a green roof system was installed, making the Operations Center one of only a handful of City of Madison owned facilities with such a feature. The Madison Water Utility Operations Center has been the recipient of several awards since its completion in 2016.
